‘Swallow it’, 2023, Acrylic Paint on Canvas, 150 x 200 cm

‘Swallow it’ is a second work in the series on domestic violence against women. Most victims are unable to express what is happening to them and to speak out. Through her use of bleeding visceral tones and throat-like contours, Rosselli captures the suffering of concealed words. This is further emphasised through the process of laying down paint - dissolving swirls are eaten by thicker layers of grittier, stronger, more actively vertical colours.
