About this artwork

Lovers, 2022, Acrylic and charcoal on paper 200 x 150 cm

This work is part of the series of paintings on domestic violence against women. Through the tangle of contours and bold colours, figures emerge and shrink in ambiguous forms. The merged organic central figures convey an emotional and physical intimacy with an indistinguishable line between passion and pain. The contrasts of light and dark shed a spotlight on the huddled forms to emphasize the difficulty of extricating oneself from a relationship of violence where there is also love.
